Mauerseglern, ein Künstler in der Luft
Vor rund 15 Jahren wurde ich auf diesen äusserst interessanten Vogel aufmerksam. Soweit ich feststellen konnte, haben sich damals so ca. 3 bis 4 Paare in unserem Dorf aufgehalten. Ich habe am Haus 4 Nistkästen montiert in der Hoffnung, dass diese umgehend besetzt werden. Hat aber nicht funktioniert. Erst die Lockrufe von einer Mauersegler-CD brachten den gewünschten Erfolg. Zurzeit sind rund an unserem Haus 20 Nistkästen aufgehängt, dazu 5 Nistkästen am Nachbargebäude. Ein Nistkasten wurde mit einer Kamera bestückt, um das Brüten der Mauersegler live zu beobachten. In Planung ist die Bestückung von vier gut zugänglichen Nistkästen mit Livecams/Webcams.

Swifts, an artist in the air
About 15 years ago I became aware of this extremely interesting bird. As far as I could tell, there were around 3 to 4 couples in our village at the time. I have installed 4 nesting boxes on the house in the hope that they will be occupied immediately. But didn't work. Only the calls from a swift CD brought the desired success. There are currently around 20 nesting boxes hanging around our house, plus 5 nesting boxes on the neighboring building. A nesting box was equipped with a camera to observe the nesting of the swifts live. There are plans to equip four easily accessible nesting boxes with live cams/webcams.
